My name is Edina Fitzpatrick. I have been the Instructional Technology Coordinator at The Norman Howard School since Sept. 1998. In that time, I have sought to learn and share ideas for using technology to enhance the learning experiences of our students. Many of our students benefit from the use of assistive technology tools, such as Kurzweil 3000 and Dragon Naturally Speaking. Our students also use Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), do Internet research, and utilize Thinking Maps to visually represent and support their learning in all content areas. As technology continues to evolve at a blinding pace, I hope to keep tabs on how newly emerging technologies can be harnessed to benefit our students. I welcome your comments and collaboration!

I think it is a great idea to have students comment on each others thoughts and ideas. One of my friends is a fourth grade teacher and she has her students share their writing with the entire class. As a result she has noticed her students putting more effort into their writing. Since most students have a great understanding and love for technology, using blogs is another great way for them to really focus on their writing skills, in which their peers will see and comment on. I’m looking forward to using blogs this school year!!
