They need to learn to evaluate the reliability and point of view of the information they encounter. They also need to learn to integrate information and then determine how to use the information to solve the problems they encounter in life. She has a right to her own personal opinion and she has a right to disagree with the school administration as long as she uses appropriate language and has a logical arguement. One of my friends is a fourth grade teacher and she has her students share their writing with the entire class. As a result she has noticed her students putting more effort into their writing. Since most students have a great understanding and love for technology, using blogs is another great way for them to really focus on their writing skills, in which their peers will see and comment on. I'm looking forward to using blogs this school year!! I think it is a great idea to have students comment on each others thoughts and ideas.
